I noticed that just a while ago two Google Java clients were announced GooSync and GoTalkMobile so I thought that a post written about both was necessary.
GooSync is a Java app that will sync your cellphone calendar with Google Cal, over the air. It does the same things as gcalsync (which I found out a while about, it works only for uploading though). These two are for Google Calendar syncing. GooSync looks like it will look better but gcalsync is simpler, however I think I’ll switch to GooSync.
Then there now is a Java app that’s only for Google Talk, not any of the other messenger communities. It’s called GoTalkMobile. You can get it here. E-Series wrote about it too.
Got more? Post ’em in the comments!

Hi there,
It doesn’t seem to work.
I registered on the goosync website, keyed in my mobile no. Seconds later, it sends me an SMS and asks me to save it. I did.
Nothing happens?!?!
Oh well, gcalsync it is for me then…

Doesn’t work for me too, I didn’t receive the SMS and tryied manual cnfig using some gg group information and I get a System error. Gcalcsync is working fine for me. Could somebody post a link to the .set SMS file?

What’s with odd bits of posts appearing in bold?

Andrew Wong and Adner I agree with y’all. It didn’t work for me either for some reason but since I have gcalsync I am fine with that (for now), it’s just that GooSync seems like it would look much better…
I hope they get the problem fixed ASAP
Also Huh??, I prefer to bold the important parts… It’s just my way of writing so sorry if it bothers

Hi Jake,
Oh, I found it. Press the “menu” button –> Connect. –> Sync.
You will see a GooSync.com profile there. I tried going to –> Options –> Synchronise but it gives me a “System error” message.
I then went to Options –> View Log and in it the Status was “Incomplete”.
I don’t know. Guess it doesn’t work after all.
On another note, are you having any problems with the timezones for gcalsync? It seems that a whole day event seems to span over 2 days after a sync using gcalsync. E.g. it puts the start time @ 8:00 am until 8:00 am the next day.
Anyone facing the same problem?
Cheers!

I had no calendar and contacts for nearly two weeks. Everytime I sync’d I’d get System Error very quickly. I deleted everything (goosync side and phone side) and tried again – same thing.
The fix: Changed my sync settings server from “sync.goosync.com” to “sync2.goosync.com”. My settings must have been really old.
Helpdesk missed this, so maybe this will help other people with the System Error of Death. It work with my nokia e66
