Notice: Most of these are Nokia E61 Freeware, but some are apps that cost and some are for another S60 3rd Edition phone (or S60 in general) so they should work with E61 but if you have any problems with any of these apps report this in the comments. This is just a portion of all available apps: there are about/over 200 apps for the E61 so there are lots of choices (and lots of work on finding all of them)!

Hi,
I couldn’t find the wayfinder earth for E-61. All of them seem to be for Symbian version 2 and not 3.
Please advise.
September 19, 2006 at 9:58 am
Try this: http://eu.mywayfinder.com/install_wizard.en.php?prod=earth
The E61 isn’t on there but there is the N70 (best choice to select), N72, and N90 choose one of them
Then choose how you want to download: Directly using phone, get link as text message (and then using phone) OR Bluetooth/Infrared
I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS TELL ME IF IT DOESNT
September 19, 2006 at 8:33 pm
Hi Jake,
N70 uses symbian 2nd edition and hence does not work for the E-61. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to install even after choosing the N72 & N90, are you sure you are using wayfinder earth on the E-61?
September 23, 2006 at 11:40 pm
Oh, well I was going to install this app later (haven’t had time yet) and I thought it would work. I will keep this in mind, and try to download it.
But I guess you are right, it’s not made for the E61 so it might not work (though often it does, an example of this would be ParkSuite from parkwifi.nokia.com which works on my E61. I got the N91 version).
Thanks for telling me, I really appreciate it.
PS: you might want to try 24Map or my favorite Google Maps they are on the list and are almost exactly the same things: ‘interactive’ maps

September 24, 2006 at 3:40 am

September 24, 2006 at 8:42 am

Opera Mini
Forget skweezer, i use the web all day with opera mini on a 10Mb/month data plan.
It is free and even when i can use wifi i prefer it over the standard web browser where you have to scroll in four directions to read something.

http://www.mig33.com
This is probably the best IM Client that I have used so far because it allows you to be online on MSN and Yahoo at the same time
Try it out, works perfectly on E61
October 6, 2006 at 12:48 am
Opera Mini is free, but Opera Mobile is better as it can browse Offline html files. There seem to be no application that can open Offline html files.

Hi, thanks for this great post!
I am planning on buying a new phone. I have a mac, so I guess I will be syncing via Nova Media or something similar.
My question: Did you actually manage to replace the E61-calendar (by Aquacalendar, Papyrus or somethign else) in a way that would allow me to sync and work with the iCal categories?
Thanks

I installed Abbyy Lingvo 12 dictionary English-Russia, Russian-English version. Works good. Can even pronounce words. Producer http://www.abbyy.com. There are European version with up to 10 European languages. All depends on your memory card capacity. Only English pronounce audio file is about 90Mb.

Alarm on E61 very primitive
I own an E61, but I have to set my daily alarm everyday manually! Is there no software that will wake me up Monday to Friday. My Blackberry phone were much more advanced with this!
This is really nice phone, except for the ancient alarm. Maybe someone can tell me where I am stupid?

I use Nimbuzz, I really like the fact that I have Skype, MSN, Gtalk and AIM all in one program running on my mobile, and it is superb for international calls to. I know companies that have all their employees use this to call the head office when abroad.
